Now what

Herman Cain has imploded. Michelle Bachman is virtually nonexistent in the polls. Huntsman, Santorum, Perry, all low in the polls. All we hear from the so called news is Gingrinch and Romney. A recent poll I saw shows Gingrinch in the lead, but Ron Paul was not even present. Not 0 votes. Not an option. WHY?
I don’t agree with everything he stands for but he is what he is. If he says it he means it. You do not have to temper his remarks against what audience. He is a conservative.
He wants to bring our country back from the cliff. Cut back the government and restore some sanity.
I think he is the only one that can. But what I think doesn’t matter. I live in North Carolina and I will be forced to vote for the anointed republican nominee. Our primary does not matter since the nominee has already been anointed before we vote here.
So once again I will have a choice between a Socialist and a Socialist-lite. No real options, just a different jersey but the same game plan. I could not vote for McCain or Obama in 2008 so my vote was wasted on the libertarian. I don’t know yet if I could stomach a Romney ticket. We will have to see. I know a third party has no chance to win and a conservative vote for a third party will give us 4 more years, but the lesser of two evils is still evil and I will not vote for that.
Give me liberty or give me death.

Jim Crow laws and a poll tax.

Former Congressional Black Caucus chair Congresswoman Barbara Lee of California said on the House floor that voter ID laws are designed to prevent certain voters from voting thereby stealing elections. She claimed voter ID laws would prevent 1 in 4 blacks from voting, and 1 in 5 Hispanics and Asian Americans. She said the laws are a return to voter suppression seen in the 2000 presidential election.
If 1 in 4 African-Americans do not have a valid photo ID, how do they function in life? How can you cash a check? Get a lease? Use a credit card? Enroll your children in school? State issued ID cards are cheap and easy to get. Most states that have voted for these new laws offer ID’s for free.
Voter ID laws are simply to prevent voter fraud. Representative Lee claims many times in her speech that the fundamentals of our democracy are under attack. We are not a democracy. We are a republic. And requiring all voters to prove who they are prior to allowing them to vote is no more racist then requiring all airline passengers to prove who they are before they fly, or all little league players to have proof of who they are before they play. Is it racist of Wal-Mart to ask me for a photo ID before I charge my new TV on my Visa card?
Voter ID laws are not about race or voter suppression. They are all about voter fraud and the integrity of our Republic. And they are long overdue.

We three kings...

We three kings…
The three wise men…
The nativity story as it is popularly told has three wise men or three kings coming to see the infant Jesus as he lays in the manger with shepherds and livestock gathered around.
Where do we get that from? It is certainly not from the Bible.
Why three? The Bible only say wise men or Magi came to see the child. There is no indication of how many wise men there were, but since there were three gifts mentioned we assume there were three gift givers. Okay I get that.
So who was there at the birth? Joseph, Mary and possible some various animals were there to be sure. Anyone else? We are not told. In the Gospel of Luke we see that Angels tell shepherds of the birth and they go to see the baby very shortly after his birth. Then they leave. No wise men come. Eight days later Jesus is presented at the temple.
Luke 2:8-21
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived. (NIV)
We fine the story of the Magi in Matthew chapter two. So who are the Magi looking for? They were looking for the “child” Jesus. Not the baby the child. And where did they find him? In a house, (Matt 2:11)
Matthew 2: 1-12
1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:
6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
   are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.’[b]
7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. (NIV)
Next we have the decree from King Herod to kill all male children two and under. Why would he kill two year olds if Jesus was just born? The Magi told him when they first saw the star. He knew it had been a while so he wanted to make sure he got him. But Joseph and Mary we not in a stable and not at an Inn. They were in a house and Jesus was a child not a babe, not an infant, a child.
The three wise men/kings are not biblical and are not part of the nativity. I wish people would actually read a little of the bible especially churches that put on nativity stories.Leave the wise men at home.

Murder by any other name

If I intentionally kill a man or a woman it is called Murder.
If I intentionally kill a child it is called Murder.
If I intentionally kill a pregnant woman, I could and most likely would be charged with two murders.
If I am a pregnant woman, I can have an abortion with as little notice as getting a root canal or flu shot.
If I am the father of the child I have no say in the matter. I cannot force her to have an abortion, and I cannot stop her if she wants one. If I want our child and She does not I have no say, the child can be aborted without my consent.
“The Unborn Victims of Violence Act, passed in 2004, defines a fetus as a "child in uterus" and a person as being a legal crime victim "if a fetal injury or death occurs during the commission of a federal violent crime."[8] In the U.S., 36 states have laws with more harsh penalties if the victim is murdered while pregnant. Some of these laws defining the fetus as being a person, "for the purpose of criminal prosecution of the offender" (National Conference of State Legislatures, 2008). Laci Peterson, murdered in 2002, is one of the more high-profile homicides.
Currently in the North Carolina Senate, a bill called the SB 353 Unborn Victims of Violence Act is being considered for legislation that would create a separate criminal offense for the death of a fetus when the mother is murdered. The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence does not support this law for numerous reasons including failure to see violence against the mother as the cause of the fetal death.[9] The Coalition does, however, support the position of the National Network to End Domestic Violence regarding the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.” (Wikipedia)
Very Few actually say that abortion is okay in any and all circumstances including as a form of birth control. The majority of ”Pro-Choice” people will place some sort of moral or social restrictions on the total free and unabridged right to end a pregnancy.
I ask, Why? If it is okay because of other reason and not okay to use as a form of birth control, why not? What moral or other code do you use to define the line? I know someone who used to say abortion was wrong, except in cases of rape or incest. Her reasoning was, how could you force a woman to carry the baby of rape or incest for nine months, knowing where it came from. My response was how could you kill a child for the mental well being of its mother. If one of my daughters is causing me mental anguish can I kill her?
Ask any pregnant woman if she is having a baby and she will tell you yes. Look at an ultrasound and tell me that is not a baby. If it is not when does it become a baby? When it takes its first breath? When it smiles in the womb for the first time? When it moves its arms or kicks? When it sucks its thumb? How about when we can detect a heart beat?
I can’t speak for anyone but myself, and I do not condemn anyone for their past, present or future actions. All sin is equal. If I lie, I am a murderer. If I covet, I am a thief. If you are guilty in one part of the law you are guilty of all.
There is another sin that I am speaking of. It is the sin of acceptance. When I sin and do not repent please tell me. When I see others sin and say nothing or even worse condone it. I am guilty of the same sin.

Thanksgiving

The Real Story of Thanksgiving

Nov. 25, 2009
At this time of year, it appears a brief lesson in history is needed.  From the "Foundation for Economic Freedom" -  2007:

The Real Thanksgiving Story

In the middle of December 1620 the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, leaving behind the sinfulness of the “old world” to make a “new Jerusalem” in America. Three years later, in November 1623, they had a great feast thanking God for getting them through an earlier famine, and now for a bountiful crop.

What had created the earlier famine and then the bountiful crops? The story is told in the diary of Governor Bradford, who was one of the elders of that early Puritan colony.

A blast from the past

Like the smell of your Grandma’s house as you walk in the door. Like the song that reminds you of your youth when you hear it on the radio. Like the feeling you get looking at your Mom’s photo album.
Newt is back. I have to admit when I heard he was running; I was thinking oh boy not him again. But as I listen to him, as I see more of him I remember why I liked him before. I remember the Republican Revolution. His commercial with Nancy Pelosi about Global Warming and his affairs are fading fast to his wisdom and vision.
Would he be my first pick for President? I don’t know anymore. Would I support him as VP or in a cabinet position YES!
Even with the current issues I still support Herman Cain. Newt is looking pretty good.
Plus I have read and enjoyed all of his Historical Fiction books.

Coat-of-Arms

Does your family have a ‘Coat of Arms’? Have you ever seen it? Would you like to? Go to:
Or if you live in the Charlotte Area, come to Concord Mills Mall just outside of Off Broadway Shoes and Vitoria’s Secret you will find World of Names. Stop by and check it out. You will be amazed and you just might find that perfect Christmas gift for the person who has everything.

What do you mean?

I am a Christian. What does that mean? The vast majority of Americans say that they are Christians, but do they mean the same thing as I do when I say it?
Before you can have a conversation with someone you have to speak the same language. If you think you can talk about God, Christ, Heaven and Hell with someone just because you both speak English you are in for a rude awakening.
I have family members that are members of the LDS (Mormon) church. I have had many conversations with them about our shared beliefs and the differences in our beliefs. At first I thought we were talking about the same thing. I quickly discovered I was wrong. Our definitions did not match up.
When I speak of Jesus Christ, I am speaking of the one and only son of God conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary and born of her yet without sin. He is fully God and Fully man. Salvation comes through Faith and the Grace of God. Salvation is Wholly of God I contributed nothing and I am incapable of contributing anything for my own salvation. I am an Adopted son of the most Holy God and Jesus is now my brother because I was grafted into the family of God, not born into it.
However, the LDS definition of Jesus Christ is not the same as mine. The LDS Church teaches that Jesus is the first born son of God but I am also a son. We all are sons and daughters of God. So is Satan. He is our brother. God was one like us and we to can become like him.
That is not even remotely the same thing, yet we will both say we have received Salvation Through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I once had a lifelong member of the LDS Church try to explain to me that Christ was Jesus’ last name. He told me that his father’s name was Joseph Christ and his mother‘s was Mary Christ.
When I say I am a Christian, I am stating that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, the one and ONLY begotten son of the God. He is God and Man and born of the Virgin Mary without sin. He led a perfect life, was slain and rose again to be the propitiation for my sins. By faith I am saved through Grace alone lest anyone should boast.
That is only the first of many definition problems with the LDS Church and they are not the only one. When we speak to a Jehovah’s Witness, Seventh Day Adventist, Hare Krishna or any other group we have to first confirm what we mean.
Are there True Christians in the LDS Church, the Catholic Church, and Jehovah’s Witness? I say yes there are. Some have placed their faith in the True Savior and are Christians. Many more are not. Can God bring you to Salvation no matter where you are? Yes, God is God and he does as he wills. His ways are not our ways and we have no right to question anything he has, is, or will do.

DEBT

How much do you owe?
How much is your city debt, state debt?
From 1776 to 2008 the US Government accumulated 10 Trillion Dollars in debt. From 2008 until now almost $5,000,000,000,000 that’s 5 Trillion additional debt. We are dangerously close to the $15Trillion mark.
To keep track of it yourself or to see other debt check out the web site below:

Why the Republican Party will give President Obama 4 more years.

Why to the blue-blood republicans and the “establishment” try to force RINO’s on us every time. McCain was horrendous and even though Obama probably would have won against anybody the republicans put up. McCain guaranteed it. Now everywhere you turn you see Romney Romney Romney. We are told he is the only one that is electable. Who are they to tell us who is electable!. Poll after Poll show Herman Cain either ahead, a virtual tie or slightly behind. Why exactly is he un-electable?

Unfortunately I live in North Carolina, and because of the primary schedule the Nominees will already have been all but picked before I get to voice my opinion. We need to do away with the current primary/caucus system and have every state have the primaries on the same day. Then my primary vote wouldn’t be irrelevant and we might actually get a nominee with morals and principles.

That and many other reasons are why I am not a Republican any longer.

A unique and awesome gift idea

If you live near Charlotte, NC and are looking for an awesome and unique gift for Christmas, stop by Concord Mills Mall starting on Tuesday November 1st. Go in at the Books-A-Million turn left and by Sak’s Off 5th Ave look for the Word of Heraldry kiosk. Or go on line to: http://www.worldofheraldry.com and order on line.

I'm Still standing

Well we are still all here including Harold Camping.

Guess he was wrong again. Please don't take me for a skeptic. The end is coming and every Knee will bow every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is lord.

When will it happen? I don't know. I do know that no man knows and anyone that says he does is a liar and the truth is not in him.

If a prophet’s words do not come true, he is a false prophet. We should disregard all his testimony for he is not of the Lord. The Old Testament demands we stone him. I am in no way calling for Mr. Camping’s death, God will take him soon enough. It boggles my mind why anyone still listens to him, or even worse give him all of their money.

There are many interpretations as thoughts on the end times. Who is right? Probably none of us. Some are just more right than others. For my view see my blog post: "The End is Near…" May 24, 2001

This is it...

The end is nigh.

The end of the world is today, since I am still here I can only assume it will end soon it is almost midnight in GMT. Or is it ending on Florida time? Alaska? Fiji? I am not sure. But today is the day so this is my Farwell post.
See you all in heaven; I won’t be in the other place.

2012 and the demise of the Republican party

On the way to work today I was listening to talk radio like I usually do. What really struck me is how even supposedly conservative talk radio hosts are pushing the watered down “moderate” conservative and discounting other candidates.
Herman Cain is ahead in many polls, but they treat him like he is your crazy uncle that comes over and says funny stuff then everyone says, oh there goes crazy uncle Herman again, and laugh it off. I am getting sick of it.
They tout electability all the time. Who are they to determine electability? The media and that includes conservative media think we are all a bunch of rubes that need to be told what to think. Stop insulting us. While I will admit the majority of Americans are woefully uninformed and a good portion of the voting public are not informed, that doesn’t mean we can’t decide who is electable. If Herman Cain is ahead in the polls, guess what, the people want him!
I would love to see Ron Paul or Herman Cain as our nominee. I would gladly support either one. But if the republicans put forward Mitt Romney then all we will be doing is guaranteeing four more years for President Obama. John McCain was unelectable because he had more in common with Ted Kennedy than any other republican. Romney will lose because he is almost indistinguishable from Obama.
We want and we demand a change in Washington. Our government has long gone away from being “a government of the people, for the people and by the people” to being “a government in spite of the people, for the government, and by the government”. We need to get back to the basics. Our Federal Government is too big, too powerful and too corrupt. Americans no longer understand that we are a union of 50 individual “States” each State is a separate entity joined together with other States for teh common good to form a union of states. The constitution limits the Federal Government to a very specific mandate and frees the States to rule themselves. Why did we forget this?

I am a racist!

If you know me, this may come as a shock to you but I found out yesterday that I am in fact a racist. Yep, you read that right. I was watching my favorite TV commentator Keith Olbermann and he had my favorite comedienne Janeane Garofalo on. She said I support Herman Cain to hide the fact that I am a racist.

I thought I supported him because of his conservative no-nonsense ideas. I thought it was because unlike most politicians, I believe what he says, I thought it was because I believe in his vision and that he has the sense to carry it out.

Nope. I am a racist.

I did not vote for President Obama. The reasons I did not vote for him are many, but mainly because I disagreed with his vision and his policies as vague as they were. None of the many reasons I did not vote for him was his skin color. If you voted for or against President Obama because he was black that is racist.

Janeane, you don't know me. You are a race baiter and you are not very funny. Stick to comedy, work on your act and come talk to me then.

Paul / Cain 2012

Today I have changed my mind. I was all out for Herman Cain for President. I still like Cain, but I have changed. My new dream team for 2012 is Ron Paul / Herman Cain. With Paul’s experience in the military and Washington and his proven long term track record I support him for President with Herman Cain as his VP bringing in vast business experience and a common sense approach to Washington, (9 9 9, I prefer the FairTax but it is better then our current system.
I don’t agree with all of Ron Paul’s ideas, in fact some of them are a little whacky, but to be honest the only way I would be happy with all of a candidates’ views is if I was made Emperor of the world. So I just have to choose among the available options. I choose you Ron Paul.
Of course by the time the North Carolina’s primaries get her the Republican nominee will have already been anointed so there is no real point in my participation in the primary process and I will be stuck with another namby-pamby white washed moderate, “electable” candidate who President Obama actually has a chance to beat. I just hope the candidate is not as horrible as McCain.

Are you a racist?

I love Morgan Freeman in just about every movie I’ve seen of his. He stole the show in Robin Hood. He was awesome as God in Bruce Almighty, and Evan Almighty. The Shawshank Redemption was probably one of the best movies ever. Driving Miss Daisy is a classic as well.
Recently Mr. Freeman upset me though. He said I am only disagreeing with President Obama because I am a racist. Mr. Freeman has never met me. He has not been on my facebook page and I don’t think he has ever read this blog. How then can he call me a racist?
In an interview with Piers Morgan, Mr. Freeman was asked if race relations were better now under President Obama or if they were worse. Mr. Freeman responded;
Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term," the actor said. "What’s, what does that, what underlines that? 'Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.’”
I do want President Obama to be a one-term president. I hope and pray that he will be a one-term president. Nothing would make me happier in November 2012 then to hear that he has lost the election and Herman Cain is the President-Elect.
Does that make me a racist? It is because he is”Black”?
Do I disagree with many of the President’s policies? Yes. Do I think the country is heading in the wrong direction? Yes. Do I think this because President Obama is black? No. I think this because I believe in the dream of limited government, freedom of the people and a prosperous republic where I am free to pursue my dreams and aspirations free from government intrusion. I believe in the Constitution of the United States. I have sworn to defend the constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. I take that oath seriously and I will oppose any that want to fundamentally change our way of life, or country, our constitution or our freedom. If you want to change the Constitution there is a process for that. I do not agree with all of the amendments but I will fully support them, while advocating to change them.
Our Government has overstepped its bounds far to often and in far too many places. So Mr. Freeman please calm down the rhetoric. Stop playing the race card I can disagree with someone based on their thought and actions and it has nothing to do with race. Besides we are all the same race, the Human Race.

I hate 5/3rd Bank

First off, I don’t like banks I prefer credit unions, more options better rates less fees. If you use a bank you should check out a credit union.
The first time I saw my mother’s bank I thought that is a really stupid name for a bank. 5/3rd Bank. What is that? That name is stupid. Why not 2 and 1/3rd Bank.
Any way it is the bank my mom uses and there is one on the corner by my work , so I went there today to cash my birthday check from my mom. It was drawn from her 5/3rd Bank. Now I don’t have a 5/3rd account as I said I prefer credit unions. I hand the teller my check, she asks for my ID and then gives me $21.00. I look at it and ask her why only $21.00 and she informs me there is a $4.00 charge to cash a check for non-account holders. It is their check, their bank, their funds. WHY? I have never seen that before. When I pointed out to her that it was a 5/3rd check she said that didn’t matter. I gave her back the $21.00 and got my check back, then went to my credit union.
I will never step foot in another 5/3rd bank and will loudly tell the world, (including my mom), about how horrible and loathsome they are.

Amen, Mr. President.

Sorry this is a little long; please stay with me for a moment.
On September, 19th President Obama gave a speech in the Rose Garden. I must admit rarely agree with the President on political, social or economic issues. I believe the Federal Government has for over a century now over stepped its mandate and usurped powers that were never intended for the Federal Government to have. That being said I found myself saying AMEN to a part of the speech.
President Obama said (paragraph numbering added for explanation.):
1.    Now, I am also ready to work with Democrats and Republicans to reform our entire tax code, to get rid of the decades of accumulated loopholes, special interest carve-outs, and other tax expenditures that stack the deck against small business owners and ordinary families who can’t afford Washington lobbyists or fancy accountants.  Our tax code is more than 10,000 pages long. If you stack up all the volumes, they’re almost five feet tall.  That means that how much you pay often depends less on what you make and more on how well you can game the system, and that’s especially true of the corporate tax code.

2.    We’ve got one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world, but it’s riddled with exceptions and special interest loopholes.  So some companies get out paying a lot of taxes, while the rest of them end up having to foot the bill.  And this makes our entire economy less competitive and our country a less desirable place to do business.

3.    That has to change.  Our tax code shouldn’t give an advantage to companies with the best-connected lobbyists.  It should give an advantage to companies that invest in the United States of America and create jobs in the United States of America.  And we can lower the corporate rate if we get rid of all these special deals.

4.    So I am ready, I am eager, to work with Democrats and Republicans to reform the tax code to make it simpler, make it fairer, and make America more competitive.  But any reform plan will have to raise revenue to help close our deficit.  That has to be part of the formula.  And any reform should follow another simple principle:  Middle-class families shouldn’t pay higher taxes than millionaires and billionaires.  That’s pretty straightforward.  It’s hard to argue against that.  Warren Buffett’s secretary shouldn’t pay a higher tax rate than Warren Buffett.  There is no justification for it.

5.    It is wrong that in the United States of America, a teacher or a nurse or a construction worker who earns $50,000 should pay higher tax rates than somebody pulling in $50 million.  Anybody who says we can’t change the tax code to correct that, anyone who has signed some pledge to protect every single tax loophole so long as they live, they should be called out.  They should have to defend that unfairness — explain why somebody who’s making  $50 million a year in the financial markets should be paying 15 percent on their taxes, when a teacher making $50,000 a year is paying more than that — paying a higher rate.  They ought to have to answer for it.  And if they’re pledged to keep that kind of unfairness in place, they should remember, the last time I checked the only pledge that really matters is the pledge we take to uphold the Constitution(emphasis added).

AMEN brother! God bless the USA and our President. I couldn’t agree more.  I think we might disagree on the nuts and bolts of how to do this but I say AMEN, bring it on lets reform our tax code.
1.       REFORM the TAX CODE! Yes, yes, yes, why is it over 10,000 pages long? The entire Constitution with all amendments and the Declaration of Independence are less the 40 pages. Get rid of the entire code and start over.

2.       We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world. Eliminate it completely. Corporations don’t pay taxes. They pass the cost on to the consumer.

3.       Our tax code should not give advantages to ANYBODY!

4.       Simple, Fair tax code YEAH! www.fairtax.org no sense in trying to come up with a new plan. Here it is come on congress and Mr. President let’s do it already. Nobody pays a higher rate than anyone else. FAIR! It’s in the name. Can’t get much simpler and fairer then that.

5.       Yes please voters of America lets get rid of all those corrupt politicians that say we cannot get rid of tax loop holes, vote them out, Let’s also get rid of those politicians who want to punish success by refusing to do away with the graduated tax structure, lets fire them all and get some real reform, back to the way the founders wanted it. Uphold the Constitution.
The founders never intended for there to be career politicians. It is past time for TERM LIMITS.  Repeal the 17th amendment and lets Senators represent the interests of the States and not the people like it was intended.
Read the Constitution please. You might be amazed at what you will find there.

Home-school vs Public-school

Yet another study has placed Home-schooled kids ahead of Public-school kids. Study after study has shown the advantages academically, socially, and spiritually. Why there is so much hostility still boggles my mind. Not everyone can home school but I think it is a better option for most.

Snip:

Home-schooled students may have the academic edge over their public schooled peers, according to a new study from the Canadian Journal of Behavioral Science.
The study, which examined the test scores of 74 students ages 5-10, found that kids educated in structured home school environments actually outperformed their public school counterparts in math and reading.
Researchers found that public school kids tested either at or above their grade level, while home-schoolers tested about a half-grade higher in math and 2.2 grades higher in reading.
“Structured home-schooling may offer opportunities for academic performance beyond those typically experienced in public schools,” author Sandra Martin-Chang, a professor at Concordia University, said in a statement about the results.

This One Man

While I was deployed after 9/11, when my family was at home praying for my safe return, Brandi my second oldest daughter wrote this poem. She was 13 at the time.
This One Man

By Brandi Anderson

This one man got married, had kids.
This one man loved God,
Went to church.
This one man had a family who loved him, he loved them.
This one man had a wife,
Three daughters.

But this one man gave up his perfect life for his God and his country.

This one man left his home.
This one man risked his life.
This one man sailed the ocean.
This one man fought in the war.

This one man gave up his perfect life for his God and his country.

This one man is a father.
This one man is a husband.
This one man is a Christian.
This one man is a daddy.

But this one man gave up his perfect life for his God and his country.

This one man I love.
This one man loves me.
This one man changed my life.
This one man is my DADDY.

10 years on.

I know I am a couple of days late, but I had to really contemplate this piece. It was hard for me to write.
September 11th 2001 started like any other day, I was supposed to go to a class that day with the rest of my division. I woke up, showered, got dressed in my uniform and went to get my breakfast. I was stationed on the USS Lake Champlain CG-57 in San Diego, CA. I grabbed my breakfast and sat down to watch the news. My breakfast was left half eaten. I watched as the second plane hit, then with the reports of a bomb at the Pentagon, I knew the world had changed.
I woke up my wife, told her I wouldn’t be coming home for a while, kissed my three sleeping babies, grabbed my sea-bag and left for war. The Lake Champlain was underway by noon. For several days we patrolled off the coast of southern California with orders to shoot down anything that flies. As the skies opened up again we were deployed in support of Operation Nobel Eagle, the protection of US airspace. Early in December we returned to port late one afternoon, we left the next day for the Arabian Sea. We spent the next seven months deployed off the coast of Pakistan and in the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In all we were deployed for a little over nine months. It was a very trying time but I was greatly honored to be serving our great country on that day.
I retired on September 7th, 2007 on the USS George Washington, CVN-73.  If ever my services are needed again, I will gladly go.

WWJD? Homeschool.

Today I read an article on World Net Daily. I have linked it at the end of this post.
My wife and I have been homeschooling for almost 20 years and I could not imagine ever sending my children to our corrupt, secular, amoral public schools. There of my children have graduated high school and have gone on to college. One of them has graduated with honors from a great university, They are all well adjusted productive adults and have a strong faith.
So why do we homeschool? Are we overprotective? Do we shelter our children? You better believe it! You would not send your child into danger in any other circumstance, yet we send them into an environment that is no longer just religion neutral, but is now openly hostile to Christianity. We teach our children to respect their elders and that the Bible is the word of God. We teach them that God created the universe and is the ruler of the universe. Then we send them off for the majority of the day to a place that tells them we are wrong, God does not exist and evolution is the answer to all life. There are no absolutes and if it feels good, do it. Everything is okay if you think it is. Is it any wonder that our kids leave their faith behind and embrace the world?
When you send your child into the lions den he will not convert the lion. He is going to get eaten.

What is the name of the Judeo-Christian God?

Many will say Jehovah and that is a name we call him, among many others. He is the Creator, the One who Save, The Just One, Our Father, and many more. We use the word God to encompass all. It is a generic cover all to describe him who cant be described.  What do Muslims call God? Allah which means God. It is the same God of the Judeo-Christians faiths. But does the word “GOD” mean that god. To me it does. To an another it might mean something else.
Oki on RightNation.us posted the following:
“There is a lot of controversy about the word God in our nations Education, Political, Monetary and even Judicial processes. Some argue that the references to God are Christian references to Jesus and are trying to force or promote one religion over another. Yes and no. Our founders where largely Christian, true enough. But, if there intent was to try and promote the Christian religion over another wouldn't they have specifically said Jesus?  Wouldn't our money perhaps say in Jesus we are saved?
Problem is it doesn't.  There is also the problem of the word God itself.
It's generic. What does that mean? Simple. The word God is not specific to one religions beliefs or another. Every language has a word for God. IE if you ask a Japanese Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shinto, Buddhist, the word God they will all say Kami San. Does that mean if they look at a U.S. Dollar Bill they will all think of Jesus because the U.S. was founded by Christians? Pretty big leap of assumption don't ya' think? Or perhaps it means they will think of the God which they worship and see the money as encouraging placing your trust not in money but in a higher power. After all they were largely pretty religious people weren't they? And if you believe in nothing big deal, it is at best a subtle request which you don't have to honor. You are free to live your life as you choose, you are not forced to believe anything you don't want to. Some people will see offense in anything. Problem is the word God by itself is generic. It's what YOUR beliefs are that define what it means, TO YOU!” Oki
I agree. Our founding fathers while overwhelmingly Christian did not want a state sponsored religion or the persecution of faiths by any group or power. I do not believe that they intended or even conceived any other forms of religion other then the various sects and denominations of Christianity that were prevalent at the time, but that is irrelevant. Our countries motto; “In God we trust” no more endorses Christianity then does telling someone “Bless you” after they sneeze.

Living in Sin and proclaiming Christ.

Recently Michelle Bachman and her husband have come under fire for operating a counseling service that, among many other things, counsels men and women who no longer desire to live in the “gay lifestyle”. Whether you think homosexuality is a choice or not is irrelevant to this case since the clinic does not force this counseling on anyone, and all who participated were willing volunteers. I will not debate if you can “pray away the gay” as some have called it. I also will not condemn homosexuality here as a mortal sin.
Today on ‘Theblaze.com’ there was a survey that asked can you be gay and a Christian. The over whelming response was “no”, with some” yes” and a small percentage of “I don’t know”. Several of the comments to the survey brought up how hypocritical Christians condemn homosexuals who claim to be Christians while turning a blind eye to other blatant open sins in the Christian community such as pornography and premarital sex.
They are right. Far too often we classify sin and rank it by order of not so bad to really really bad. That is a lie we tell ourselves to continue doing what we are doing or to make ourselves feel a little better about our own sin. We are all sinners. I am a sinner. I struggle with many things, but the point is I struggle with them. I repent of my sins as often as I can. When a brother or a sister points out sin in my life that I don’t see, I repent. When I sin and know it, I repent. I try to avoid my temptations and I struggle to eliminate sin in my life. Of course I am a complete failure, but I try. Though the Grace of God I am forgiven. Not because I don’t sin, l do, but because of his Grace. I sin, I repent and God forgives.
The Bible says that if I am guilty of breaking one of God’s laws I am guilty of all. In the same manner, if I deny any portion of the Bible I deny the whole. It is not my job here on Earth to condemn anyone. We are all condemned by our actions. Even Jesus said he did not come to condemn the world it is condemned already. I am to call sin a sin wherever I see it. That is not condemning the individual sinner it is only noting that a sin is a sin.  Sin is; “Any want of conformity to or transgression of the God’s law.”
I do not believe that you can openly and actively live in such a manner as to willfully and continually sin and deny that your actions are a sin while proclaiming to the world that you are a Christian.
It does not matter what the sin is. It is said that predisposition to alcoholism is a genetic trait. My father is an alcoholic and I have struggled with my drinking. I choose not to be an alcoholic. I avoid the temptation that comes to me and avoid the situations that could lead to my over consumption. I could not be an open and unrepentant alcoholic and still proclaim Christianity. I could not be an actor in the adult film industry and proclaim Christianity. I could not co-habitat with someone as man and wife and claim Christianity.  It does not matter what the sin is. If it is open and unrepentant and you refuse to accept the fact that it is a sin, you are not a follower of Christ. If you deny the Bible you are not a Christian. To deny any portion of scripture is to dent the whole. To deny the Bible is to deny the Christ and to deny God’s sovereignty over you life.

How much do you make a year?

I make a modest salary. It is between $40,000 and $80,000 a year. Not too bad, but there are plenty of people I know making more than me.
Today, 07/26/2011, the estimated population of the United States is a little over 311,000,000.
Our National Debt is over $14,356,000,000,000.00 ($14 Trillion Dollars, or $14 Million/Million).
That means that your share of that debt is $46,1
60.77.

Our national debt is larger than the entire economies of China, the United Kingdom and Australia combined.

In 2010 the United States borrowed almost $4,000,000,000 (that’s $4 Billion) in new debt every day.

$167,000,000.00 each hour.

$2,777,000.00 each minute.

$46, 296.00 each and every second of the day.

That’s right. The U. S. Government borrows $46,296.00 every second of every day.
That means that they spend $46,276.00 more then they have, every second. EVERY SECOND!

We cannot keep this up. It is unsustainable. Just the interest alone on the debt last year was over $414,000,000,000.00

Our debt is 95% of the entire GDP. That means we have a debt almost equal to everything produced in America in a year.

Our Government has no intention of stopping this insane debt. And no intention to pay it back.

Are you reading this?

I have several readers from around the world, but I don’t know who you are. If you like what you read or disagree with anything here please leave a comment. I would love to know who you are. Thanks for reading. Enjoy.

My favorite Poem

Hear lies John Adams of Southwell

John Adams lies here, of the parish of Southwell,
A carrier who carried his can to his mouth well;
He carried so much, and he carried so fast,
He could carry no more so he was carried at last;
For, the liquor he drank, being too much for one,
He could not carry off, so now he's carrion.
- Lord Byron

Cut Cap and Balance – Raise the Debt Limit?

No, I am not talking about the national crisis facing our Republic. I am talking about my own personal financial crisis. Like the Federal Government my crisis has been looming for years and like the Government I have been increasing my debt limit and not really tackling the problem. Additionally like the Government I don’t have a revenue problem, I have a spending problem. It is also an accountability problem. I don’t track my finances like I should.
Today that is going to radically change. I am getting my house in order. I am commanded by God to be a good steward of the blessings he has given me and I am promised I will be given what I need.
Today I am taking action. I will get my house in order and then I will be in a position to serve the Lord and love my family like I should.
Now as for the Government, this will never happen but it should. Get rid of the Education Department, HUD, NRC, EPA, and many other useless and unconstitutional agencies and departments in the Federal Government.
The tenth amendment states:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
We need a new amendment to the Constitution. It should be a no-brainer, but unfortunately it isn’t. Here is my proposal:
Congress shale pass no budget that exceeds revenues, except during time of declared war or extreme national emergency declared by 2/3 majority of both houses.
God Bless America

THE END IS NEAR...

Harold Camping said the end was near. May 21st came and went. No Rapture. Now he says we are under the Judgment of God and the end will actually be October 21, 2011.  Throughout this time I have heard many Christians say things like: “But the Bible says he will come like a thief in the night.” Or “No man knows the time not even the father.
This is known as the doctrine of imminence. It is true indeed Jesus says in Matthew 24:36-44 that no one knows the date or the time. And “The Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Also 1Thessalonians 5:2-3 Paul writes and says “for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”
So is it possible that you will be sitting here reading this blog sipping Starbucks  and the next instant … poof, the Rapture?

No, that could only happen if you ignore Jesus own teachings about the end times and most of Revelation. Jesus says in Matthew:
Matthew 24:3-31As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time. “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”
1Thessalonians 5:4-8But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
Revelation 6:12-13I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.”
Do I know when the Son of Man will return? Do I know when the wrath of God will be poured out? Do I claim to know when the Judgment day will come?
No, I don’t know the day. I don’t know the hour and it will be a sudden cataclysmic event that will bring the Saints to Glory and destroy the wicked in a hell storm we can’t even begin to imagine. There will be no life as normal after the event. There will be none left to repent and turn to God. It will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. They will wish to die and not be able. They will scream in their agony and they will be destroyed.
But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness. There will be signs that must come first. Watch for them. The Anti-Christ must come to power. The Temple must be rebuilt. The “Abomination of Desolation” must occur. The Church must be persecuted, Christians put to death, families torn apart for the faith, brother against brother. Neighbors turning in their neighbors for being those hated Christians. Severe tribulation like none seen yet in all of world history. Then “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
We are told to look for the signs. We are not in darkness. We are in the light. We will see the end coming and be ready. The unbeliever will not see it. He will see the signs but dismiss them. He will hear our cries and ignore them. He will tear us apart and claim we are the evil in the world. We are the reason for suffering and if he could just do away with those evil Christians all would be good.
Watch my brethren. Look for the signs. And pray that He will return soon. When the Anti-Christ comes do not fear rejoice. When Tribulation comes, Rejoice. When your martyrdom comes, Rejoice. For heaven is near.
The end is coming. It will be here when the world least expects it. But Christians should not be surprised. Don’t be led astray by false prophets. Don’t falter, don’t fear. Stand fast my brethren Jesus will return.
